As a long-time DC fan who has seen countless adaptations of my beloved superheroes over the years, I must say that the fourth episode of Creature Commandos on Max really took me by surprise! The prophecy sequence featuring Princess Ilana and her army waging war against the world was quite intriguing, to say the least.
In the fourth installment of “Creature Commandos” on Max titled “Chasing Squirrels,” we were introduced to several renowned DCU heroes in a sort-of debut. Here’s how it unfolded: The villainous Amazon sorceress Circe, in captivity, shows Amanda Waller a glimpse of the future. This vision portrays Ilana, the Princess, as the primary menace to our world. In this prophetic scene, we witness a brutal Ilana leading her troops in war against Earth, conquering America. The scene is reminiscent of Vlad the Impaler’s victories, featuring a battlefield strewn with the lifeless bodies and skeletons of various superheroes – including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Hawkgirl, and Peacemaker.
As a passionate gamer, I’ve always been captivated by the intricate details in superhero movies, and the latest glimpse into the upcoming film has certainly piqued my interest. Unlike Superman, crucified instead of impaled, a nod to his Christ-like allegory established since the 1978 movie, this image also offers our first proper look at Batman. His appearance seems strikingly familiar, like every big-screen Batman we’ve seen for the past three decades, with his cape hiding the finer details of his costume.
In this prophecy scene, there are two comic book characters from DC Studios yet to be officially announced. One of these unannounced characters is Starfire from the Teen Titans, which seems to suggest that she will be part of an upcoming Teen Titans movie. Interestingly, Robin is also mentioned in the sequence, and while we already know he’ll appear in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, his presence here could imply a broader role for him in DCU projects.
Creature Commandos drops weekly on Max.
