As a devoted Keanu Reeves fan, I was both alarmed and fascinated by his recent revelation about injuring his knee during the filming of Good Fortune. The image of him with an iced knee bandage wrapped around it left me feeling a pang of concern for my beloved action hero.
I recently had an unfortunate incident while filming for the upcoming comedy “Good Fortune” with my co-stars Seth Rogen and Aziz Ansari, and the esteemed director Aziz Ansari himself. During one scene, we were all in a cold plunge together. After wrapping up that sequence, I was feeling quite chilled and shuffling my way out, trying to keep warm. Unfortunately, as I stepped out of the plunge, I fractured my knee. It’s disappointing, but these things happen on set, and I’m determined to recover and get back to work as soon as possible!

Keanu Reeves recalls how he injured his knee on the set of Good Fortune
Recently, Keanu Reeves made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They talked about their new collaborative novel, “The Book of Elsewhere,” by China Miéville and Keanu Reeves. At one point during the conversation, Colbert displayed a photo of Reeves’ injured knee and inquired about the cause of his injury.
The renowned actor mentioned that he filmed a chilly scene alongside Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. He expressed his enjoyment of the situation, stating that he was “thoroughly enjoying it” and remained there. However, Reeves added, after they had completed the scene, “You know when your body is freezing and you’re trying to move quickly while dressed in a bathing suit and a towel? I did the cold shuffle then.”
While moving slowly in a carpeted room, Reeves described an unexpected incident where his foot became stuck in a small indentation. He continued, “When I lost my balance and tried to regain it, my knee remained rigid instead of bending with the rest of my body. In a slow-motion fall, I extended my arms for support but couldn’t prevent my knee from taking the brunt of the impact. My kneecap cracked upon hitting the floor, just like a broken potato chip.”
Good Fortune director Aziz Ansari says Keanu Reeves is an ‘angel’
At CinemaCon 2024 in April, Aziz Ansari showcased his Lionsgate film Good Fortune and paid tribute to Keanu Reeves during the event. Ansari revealed that just 15 days into filming, Reeves, who portrays the character Gabriel (an angel) in the movie, had an unexpected accident. Ansari added humorously, “He really is an angel. This is the first role where he gets to embody his true form,” after Reeves injured himself by tripping over a rug while filming.
According to reports, in the movie “Good Fortune,” Ansari portrays a struggling man who takes on various jobs to get by. He encounters Jeff, played by Seth Rogen, who is wealthy and hires Ansani for tasks such as installing a dance floor and repairing a pool heater. Later, Keanu Reeves enters the scene as a sort of guardian angel, exchanging their roles, thereby bestowing upon Rogen the prosperous life that Ansari had been leading.
