Mark Ruffalo has discussed the potential for a Hulk movie focusing solely on his character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, offering fans a hint about what might happen next for the Hulk.
Mark Ruffalo, who has portrayed Bruce Banner/the Hulk since 2012’s *The Avengers*, recently shared in a GQ interview that he’s eager to star in his own Hulk film. “I’d really love to have a solo Hulk movie,” he said.
Despite interest in a solo Hulk movie, it’s a complex issue. Mark Ruffalo clarified that Marvel doesn’t fully control the rights to the character; Universal also owns a portion of it.
He wasn’t sure if another Hulk movie would actually happen, admitting it’s a tough question. He and Marvel are still brainstorming, but the biggest hurdle is finding a fresh story. He pointed out that there have been several Hulk films already, and it’s hard to know if audiences are eager for another one. Still, he’d personally love to make one, and believes it could be successful if they found the right approach.
The last solo Hulk movie, *The Incredible Hulk*, was released in 2008 with Edward Norton as the lead. Mark Ruffalo then took on the role in 2012. While Hulk has been featured in many Marvel Cinematic Universe films like *The Avengers*, he hasn’t had his own dedicated movie yet in this film series.
I was really disappointed to hear Mark Ruffalo say that Kevin Feige at Marvel basically told him we probably won’t be getting another dedicated Hulk movie. He even said he knows more, but he’s been asked not to share it! It’s frustrating, but I understand he has to respect what he’s told.
So, the buzz is Mark Ruffalo might be coming back for another Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland, which is awesome! But honestly, he said he’s still in the dark about the specifics – basically, he’s waiting to hear more details just like the rest of us fans!
He stated he hasn’t seen the script yet. Fans are also questioning whether he’ll be in *Avengers: Doomsday*, since he wasn’t included in the latest cast announcement. Ruffalo playfully suggested the omission was intentional, joking that the studio preferred to remove him from the list rather than risk him spoiling details about the upcoming film.
Mark Ruffalo last played the Hulk in the 2022 Disney+ series *She-Hulk*, which introduced his son, Skaar. Both Hulk and Skaar are likely to appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and shows, but it’s currently unknown what Ruffalo’s future role will be.
