Costume Guide – Track and Field Team Member Loen

Overview

As a dedicated Brown Dust 2 player with years of experience under my belt, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies and nuances of each character in this game. Among them, Track and Field Loen has always piqued my interest due to her unique abilities and synergy with Last Hope Loen, a character I’ve invested heavily in.

M.ATK buff has high synergy with Last Hope Loen, making Last Hope even harder hitting

With a 3-turn cooldown (which can be upgraded), you can continuously use this ability and Last Hope without any interruption.

Loen is the only fire magic attacker to date

Costume doesn’t work well without Last Hope Loen

Fire is a crowded element with several other good AOE options

Own damage doesn’t scale well in PVE

High SP cost on all costumes makes her a poor choice in PVP

With Last Hope Loen

Among all magic units in the game, Last Hope Loen (LH.Loen) stands out as the most powerful with her impressive 750% multiplier, making her the undisputed leader in terms of damage dealt by a 3×3 Area of Effect (AOE) magic ability. In comparison, MB.Celia inflicts 3×160%, MSP.Schera deals 5×65%, and Summer.Dalvi dishes out 4×75% (accompanied by 105% burn). None of these come even close to the devastating power of LH.Loen’s nuke.

TF.Loen functions as a booster for LH.Loen in Track and Field, enhancing its striking power. This enhancement endures for four consecutive turns, preparing LH.Loen for an impactful assault during your upcoming turn.

Loen was clearly created with wind fiend hunting as its primary focus. Its gameplay strategy of establishing buffs during one turn followed by a powerful attack the next turn aligns seamlessly with this hunting style. Additionally, Loen boasts a natural base crit rate of 5% and a full crit damage, whereas most characters come with a 10% crit rate and 50% crit damage. This configuration is yet another advantageous aspect for fiend hunts, where the significance of crit rate can be diminished.

After being enhanced with TF.Loen, LH.Loen becomes significantly stronger than her closest rival in fire damage, Maid Liatris, who deals “merely” 700% damage in a 3×3 area of effect, following the support of RS.Liatris.

Without Last Hope Loen

If you don’t have LH.Loen, then TF.Loen on her own is not all that impressive for PVE.

Her damage doesn’t grow effectively with other M.ATK boosters in PVE situations, as similar types of buffs accumulate additively. Almost every time in PVE, you’ll rely on other M.ATK enhancers.

Another point to consider is that her area of effect (AOE) is quite limited in size (shorter reach than other fire abilities), affecting no more than three adjacent tiles.

As someone who has spent countless hours in the world of elemental combat, I can confidently say that while I appreciate the effectiveness of using a fire attacker like my character in third place, I’ve also come to realize that there are numerous other options out there that offer better area of effect (AOE) and utility for the fire element. Fire is a highly competitive element in this game, with a multitude of strong contenders vying for top spot. Personally, I’ve had great success with characters like Liatris, Rubia, and Eris. Their unique abilities and superior crowd control make them formidable opponents, and I’ve seen firsthand the strategic advantages they bring to the table. So while my third character may still hold a special place in my heart, I encourage fellow players to explore the wealth of options available and discover the strengths of these other fire attackers.

Loen for PVP

Loen is not good for PVP due to her high cost and mediocre impact.

Conclusion

In simpler terms, supporting Track and Field Loen hinges on your current or intended investment in Last Hope Loen. The former primarily serves the purpose of enhancing the latter’s abilities for an effective assault the following turn.

To achieve a high score in wind fiend hunts, it’s essential to wear both Loen costumes. However, if your goal isn’t to maximize the score, there are numerous other fire characters that can help you reach level 10.
