Costume Guide – Anti-Dystopia Diana (rerun)

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the Adventurer Diana costume is a game-changer for one of the most versatile characters in Epic Seven – Diana herself! Her new defensive skills offer an incredible boost to any team, making her an essential addition to your roster.

Patch notes

Overview

Note: Anti-dystopian Diana is not a limited unit.

Low SP cost: Only 1 SP from +1 onwards.

At lower difficulty levels, it functions perfectly well. However, when boosted by magical supports such as Helena, its power becomes unparalleled, making it the strongest team energy defense skill in the game, surpassing Red Hat Rou considerably.

Base costume is already top tier, so this makes Diana even better

Very large coverage with potential upgrades

Short aura duration (1 enemy turn), so it needs to be timed carefully

Very few game modes where energy guard buffs are required (other than Lv11+ fiend hunts)

Like all energy guards, Diana’s buff gets removed by buff removers like Schera

The skill depends on M.ATK stats, and it’s crucial to enhance M.ATK equipment for Diana (a character who typically doesn’t require high M.ATK), even though she primarily functions as a supporter.

Diana for PVE

In simpler terms, Diana’s standard outfit, known as “Adventurer of the Unknown” (AOTU), is highly valued in the game due to her excellent supporting role. She’s a go-to character for many challenging PVE scenarios and can effectively contribute to both magical and physical combat teams.

As a seasoned gamer, I can confidently say that donning the AD.Diana costume has significantly beefed up Diana’s arsenal, transforming her into an exceptional end-game supporter on both offensive and defensive fronts. In terms of comparison with other energy guard buffers, she truly stands out!

When RH.Rou reaches her full potential at level +5, she bestows a shield that boosts the entire team’s health by 150% of her own health, which is approximately 15,000 HP if we consider 10,000 HP as a moderate gear level for Rou.

Compared to a character with moderate gear (900 M.ATK), AD.Diana at maximum potential provides an energy shield equivalent to 1100% of her base M.ATK, which is quite low at 176. To give a fair comparison, we’ll consider the impact of M.ATK boosts from characters like B.Helena, Elpis, and MC.Teresse on Diana’s skill power.

Costume Energy Guard (+0) Energy Guard (+5 full pot)
AD Diana (assuming 900 M.ATK, no buffs) 4800 9900
AD Diana (with 115% M.ATK buff) 9675 21285
AD Diana (with 225% M.ATK buff) 14625 32175

In summary, both Diana and Rou possess similar base power in their energy guards, but Diana exhibits significantly greater potential when augmented by magical supports. While Diana’s energy guard only endures for one enemy turn, it is considerably more cost-effective, requiring only one SP as opposed to Rou’s two SP.

As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “At the end of each turn I use her energy guard, Diana gains an extra boost. This makes her more effective when facing down Damage over Time (DoT) attacks, such as burn or bleed damage, that stack up at the end of every turn.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that PWB.Refi comes equipped with an energy shield, but it’s only half of their maximum health points. Given that energy guards are primarily used to safeguard our allies with the lowest health, the strength of PWB.Refi’s energy shield is rather modest.

Using AD.Diana in PVE

Currently, the majority of game modes do not heavily rely on defensive boosts. These defensive boosts are typically essential only for advanced content such as level 11 and above fiend hunts. So far, it has not been a requirement to have defensive buffers to complete any other type of content that has been released.

Even with the need for defensive barriers, Diana’s initial energy defense is quite robust, and it becomes even stronger when enhanced. Typically, fiends and guild raid bosses will only unleash a powerful attack a few times before the battle starts. As long as your allies are well-equipped, even an unenhanced Diana should be sufficient to protect your team from those occasional attacks.

Contrariwise, +5 appears excessively powerful at this moment for PVE, as there is currently no content that can leverage her extensive energy boost effectively.

Diana for PVP

Diana is fairly unique because she is one of the few viable defensive skills for Turn 1 PVP.

With a M.ATK buffer such as B.Helena or Samay at her side, she significantly increases your team’s starting HP by more than 10,000 points on the first turn. This makes for a powerful opening in Turn 1, provided there are no buff-removing characters on the opposing team.

Additionally, it’s important to mention that Diana boasts high durability, with an impressive base HP of 4011. For perspective, this surpasses Lecliss, a renowned tank character, who has 4515 base HP. Furthermore, her unique equipment grants a 54% bonus to HP. Consequently, Diana could effectively serve in both the support and tank positions within a PVP team due to her potential for high health points.

In summary, while AD.Diana excels as a buffer for PVE, she falls short in PVP due to minimal impact and lack of effective follow-up actions on the second turn. This makes her a less preferred choice compared to Rou, who offers a 50% crit rate buff and a range of S-tier costumes that significantly boost performance on the second turn. Despite AD.Diana’s strong opening on the first turn, her limited effectiveness on the second turn makes it challenging to choose her over Rou in PVP, even with Rou’s more expensive SP costume requirement.

Conclusion

In simpler terms, Diana provides strong defensive assistance, however, it seems she addresses an issue that may not be relevant yet since there is little PVE content currently requiring large amounts of energy guardians.

Regardless, the AD Diana costume significantly enhances Diana’s already impressive role as one of the top supporters in the game. Given this improvement, acquiring at least one copy is advisable. However, having more than that might be considered a luxury, as you probably won’t need a more potent energy guard for some time to come, unless you’re planning to tackle very high Fiend Hunt levels intensively.

Once more, AD Diana isn’t confined, which means you won’t have to fret about not getting her from the present banner since there will always be another chance.
