During an interview, BBC correspondent Colin Paterson expressed surprise at finding Shrek on Al Pacino’s phone case, not anticipating such a choice given to the actor. “Who would expect Shrek?” Pacino, aged 84, concurred with the sentiment, then proceeded to reveal his phone cover more closely, caught up in his headphone wires.
When inquired about why he uses a Shrek phone case, Pacino clarified that this has been public knowledge since 2022. He explained that his daughter Olivia gave him the case after she briefly used his phone. “When she returned,” said the Godfather star, gesturing to the well-known phone cover, “it was already there. She said, ‘It’s Shrek, Dad!’ To which I replied, ‘Shrek? Wow. Alright, sweetheart, I’ll keep it for now.’

Two years back, sharp-eyed fans noticed a Shrek phone case on the table in a picture of him with Jason Momoa (Aquaman star). On X, similar reactions were expressed. It wasn’t until social media drew his attention that the actor from Scarface discovered what was on his phone case, as he stated on the Today Show in June 2022.
