Concept Art Reveals Crazy Alternative Ending for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Featuring Ben Affleck and Nicolas Cage

Well, as a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in Marvel’s multiverse, this news about the scrapped Deadpool & Wolverine ending featuring Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and Nicolas Cage‘s Ghost Rider has me buzzing like an arcade cabinet on free play!

As a die-hard gamer, I can’t hide my excitement when it comes to talking about the blockbuster hit of the year – Deadpool and Wolverine. Sure, some critics might not have been blown away by it, but let me tell you, this movie has been a fan-favorite, and the impressive box office numbers it’s racked up are proof enough. In fact, it’s the highest-grossing film of the year, with only Inside Out 2 managing to outshine it.

Although Deadpool & Wolverine were the center of attention on our site a few months back, more subjects have since taken center stage. However, we’re eager to revisit these characters, as we plan to delve into them again in this upcoming report.

Turns out, I stumbled upon a fascinating tidbit from the making of the movie – it seems there was an alternate ending planned that would have brought back two classic Marvel characters from before the MCU era! This intriguing revelation came straight from Rodney Fuentebella, the visual development artist who worked on the film and shared some captivating concept art on his Instagram.

As a die-hard fan of the Deadpool & Wolverine duo, I’m super hyped about the upcoming release of “The Art of Deadpool & Wolverine” book! Not only will it be packed with tons of awesome concept art, but it’ll also give us a sneak peek into film ideas. What really caught my attention is Fuentebella’s sketches, which showcase an alternate ending where Deadpool and Wolverine team up to take on the Deadpool Corps in the Void, with some backup along the way. Can’t wait to get my hands on this book! 🚀💥💪🏼

In case you’re unable to see the text for some reason, here is the transcript:

I’d like to share an early sketch I made for the Marvel Studios Deadpool and Wolverine movie. At that point, the film was still in its development stage, so many things have changed since then. However, I wanted to give you a sense of how incredible and exciting this movie could be back then. It was a blast designing all the interplay between our protagonists and the various Deadpool versions. A big thanks to @andyparkart for overseeing the visual development aspect of the project, as well as everyone at Marvel Studios. Be sure to check out @ryan_meinerding_art’s Wolverine concept if you haven’t already! Enjoy!!!

This piece will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool & Wolverine

In the images, it’s clear that Deadpool and Wolverine received assistance from characters who didn’t end up in the final version of the film: Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider. Although we’ve previously explained why Affleck wasn’t part of the movie, these were characters that fans would have enjoyed seeing on screen. Additionally, you can see the Human Torch (played by Chris Evans) and Blade (Wesley Snipes), as well as Elektra (Jennifer Garner). However, since they were already in the film, this isn’t particularly surprising.

Ultimately, this tantalizing hint suggests that Affleck and Cage may reappear in another Marvel Cinematic Universe movie down the line, which seems to be something fans have been eagerly anticipating. So, here’s hoping for the best!
