As a devoted fan, I must say that Colin Farrell‘s transformation into The Penguin for The Batman Part I has left me utterly astounded and impressed! His dedication to his craft is truly inspiring, as evidenced by his willingness to wear a detachable, Velcro-fastened “penguin penis” for the role.
In a flurry of enthusiastic acclaim, the initial installment of “The Penguin” series was met with rave reviews. Some ardent viewers went so far as to label it “the most exceptional television pilot ever produced.
A significant factor contributing to the show’s triumph is Colin Farrell’s exceptional portrayal of Oz Cobblepot. At first, when Farrell was chosen for The Batman Part I, fans had doubts, but the skillful work of the prosthetics and makeup team transformed him into a flawless fit for the role.
Colin Farrell significantly altered his appearance to convincingly play The Penguin, a change that extended to wearing a specialized prosthetic for the part.
During an interview with People, Farrell spoke about the detailed makeup procedure needed for his role. He shared a scene in which Oz Cobblepot appears nude (although nothing is shown to viewers), and he disclosed that makeup artist Mike Marino fashioned a “penguin prosthetic” for him to use.
Marino is remarkably inventive and quirky. He announced, “I created a penguin’s private part for you.” I responded, “Is that right? The crew won’t even notice it. I’m not sure I want to be on set with a penguin’s private part. But wait, it’s detachable, it uses Velcro. It even has a beak at the end of it.” So, I ended up with a detachable, Velcro-attached penguin replica, complete with a beak.
Additionally, Farrell detailed the attire he used to metamorphose into The Penguin, which included a slouch and all the distinctive traits of the character.
In simpler terms, that object served as a base, reaching up to my neck. Afterward, I slipped the suit underneath it. They graciously provided an extra curve on top for me too.
It appears that the audience may not have a chance to fully savor the intricate work done by the makeup and prosthetics team in recreating Oz’s likeness. Yet, it is evident that they put in a great deal of effort, correct?
