Colin Farrell on THE PENGUIN Leading Into THE BATMAN- PART II

HBO’s The Penguin quickly became a standout show of 2024, and viewers are already hoping for another season, even though it was originally intended as a limited series. While there hasn’t been an official announcement about a second season of The Penguin spin-off, despite the strong fan interest, Colin Farrell recently discussed the possibility of reprising his role as Oz Cobb. In an interview with Comic Book (as reported by Deadline), he explained how The Penguin connects to the upcoming The Batman – Part II and shared his thoughts on whether another season will happen.

I tend to be a bit pessimistic, which people close to me have pointed out. So, I wasn’t entirely convinced it would work, but I was cautiously optimistic. The death at the end of The Batman and the chaos in Gotham created a perfect opportunity for the villain, Oz, to seize power, which fit nicely into the eight-hour story we were telling. The Batman Part II will begin a few weeks after the events of the show. I still have some doubts, but I think it’ll work out.

We now have confirmation that the sequel to The Batman will continue the story right after the first film ended, likely a few months later. However, fans will have to wait quite a while – the movie isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until 2027, five years after the original! We can assume the characters will show some signs of aging, which we’ll blame on Gotham’s tough winters. Filming for The Batman – Part II is set to begin in Spring 2026, with a release date of October 1, 2027.
