School was seen on camera expressing surprise upon Scherzinger’s Best Actress in a Musical win, stating, “Is it Nicole? Wow. The wait is finally over. Wow. Four more years.” This statement soon went viral online, causing some confusion about its meaning. Later, on June 10th, Cole clarified the statement via their Instagram Story.
When I told that joke, I was essentially saying that her winning Best Lead Actress in a Musical is similar to winning a presidential election – though obviously they’re vastly different. Yet, people seem determined to create rivalries among us Broadway actresses. Frankly, I find it disheartening.
Contrary to rumors circulating online, there appears to be no strain in the relationship between these two artists. In fact, they were spotted grinning together backstage during the Tonys, each holding their awards with pride. Furthermore, they were observed enjoying the same post-event celebration, which serves as evidence that their friendship remains strong and unbroken.
Instead of a feud, the situation served as evidence that online comments can twist the true essence of live occurrences. As Escola pointed out, “It’s unfortunate” how quickly camaraderie can be misunderstood.
