‘Code Geass’ Launches ‘Pure Almaria’, a New Manga Set to Expand the Franchise

The official Kadokawa’s Kadocomi site has recently unveiled a new installment in the Code Geass series: “Code Geass: Pure Almaria”.

In this production, Atsushi Soga (known for his work on “Shiro no Kishi Kurenai no Yasha”) is responsible for the art, while Fumiya Nagatsuki takes charge of the storyline. The series composition is overseen by Sunrise producer Kōjirō Taniguchi, with additional planning also from Sunrise. Bandai Spirits and Hobby Japan are lending their contributions to the project as well.

This manga bridges the occurrences from “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” and “Rozé of the Recapture”. The narrative unfolds subsequent to Zero and Nunnally’s abduction by the Kingdom of Zilkhstan, offering insights into the events that transpired thereafter.

Back in 2006, the initial “Code Geass” series was launched, and a sequel followed suit in 2008. Since then, this popular franchise has expanded, encompassing manga, OVAs, and offshoots such as the five-part “Akito the Exiled,” which screened intermittently in cinemas from 2012 to 2016.

From 2017 through 2018, I witnessed an outpouring of compilation films. Then, in 2019, I was captivated by the release of Lelouch of the Re;surrection. At that time, producer Taniguchi shared a visionary plan: over the next decade, he aims to significantly grow this franchise.

In 2024, the anime titled “Rozé of the Recapture” was released, available for viewing in theaters and as a 12-episode series on Disney+. A December event suggested that additional projects related to “Code Geass” might be forthcoming soon.
