It was explicitly stated by him that it will be Jason Sudeikis, rather than himself, who will serve as the primary creative driving force for season 4. Although Lawrence did not delve into many details, he did confirm that a new season is being planned.
He described the upcoming season as a “refresh,” implying significant transformations are on the horizon. The creators planned for Season 3 to serve as an ending for Ted’s narrative, wrapping up his adventures and preparing him to return to the U.S. and reconnect with his family. “Another series coming back is ‘Ted Lasso,’ which you’re an executive producer for. During its third season, there was uncertainty whether it was the final episode or just the end of a season. Originally, Jason Sudeikis had planned for the show to run for three seasons, but something altered those plans.
I’m diligent in avoiding making it seem like it’s all about me, as I take great pride in being involved. However, Jason is the one steering the ship. Something he’s consistently emphasized, without revealing specifics, is that the story we created for the first three seasons was a complete narrative for Ted Lasso; it had a clear beginning, middle, and end. Without a shadow of a doubt, you could see him jumping around and going home, signifying its conclusion.
