Clayface Movie SHOCKING Update! What DC Doesn’t Want You To Know!

The DCU Clayface movie currently in development is getting a rewrite.

Initially, Jeff Sneider mentioned that Clayface was undergoing a significant rewrite, implying a near-complete overhaul of the script from the ground up.

Amini Replaces Flanagan on Script

Now The Wrap reports that screenwriter Hossein Amini has been brought onboard to write Clayface.

Previously, Mike Flanagan had expressed interest in both writing and directing projects. However, at present, he’s engrossed in the forthcoming television adaptation of Carrie.

Watkins to Direct

James Watkins is in charge of directing, having previously worked on the film “Speak No Evil”. Additionally, Hossein Amini is recognized for his work on the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, “47 Ronin”, “Snow White and the Huntsman”, “Drive”, and other projects.

What is Clayface about?

Previous information hints that Clayface might be depicted in a horror-thriller-tragedy genre, deviating from his typical antagonist role in the Batman universe.

As a captivated observer, I’d put it this way: I’ve heard tales about Clayface, a story revolving around an aspiring B-list actor. In a desperate bid for stardom, he stumbles upon a peculiar substance that promises eternal relevance. Little does he know, this elixir transforms him into something extraordinary – a malleable being made of clay, capable of altering his form and face at will.

Matt Reeves will serve as a producer alongside Lynn Harris. Previously, Clayface made an appearance in the animated series “Batman: The Caped Crusader,” which was executive produced by Reeves, and also appeared in James Gunn’s “Creature Commandos” animated series.

James Gunn confirms Clayface set in DCU

Gunn has also said the Clayface movie is set in the DCU.

Today, there’s thrilling news coming from DC Studios! As previously announced by Gunn in December, the Clayface project, a story within the DC Universe penned by Mike Flanagan, has now been OFFICIALLY given the go-ahead.

It’s also been reporting the film is a low-budget horror movie, with the budget around $40 million.

Recently also saw the DCU news that the Sgt. Rock movie has been canceled.

Release info

On September 11, 2026, Clayface will make its appearance, succeeding Supergirl on June 26, 2026, and Gunn’s Superman on July 11, 2025. Filming is anticipated to start in October of the same year, taking place in the United Kingdom.
