The popular PlayStation 1 fighting game, Tekken 3, is coming to modern PlayStation consoles! Sony announced that the 1998 title will be available on both PS5 and PS4 later this year as part of the PlayStation Plus Classics selection.
As a fan, I’m so excited to see classics like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Myst, and Siphon Filter making a comeback! It’s awesome that both longtime fans and new players can now easily experience these older games.
Tekken 3 first became popular in arcades in 1997, and then it was released for the PlayStation in 1998. The game featured new characters like Jin Kazama, Ling Xiaoyu, and Bryan Fury, who went on to become mainstays in the Tekken series.
I was so excited when the game came out! They added some really cool new moves, like sidestepping, and even a separate beat ’em up mode called Tekken Force. It was a massive hit, too – I remember hearing it sold over 8 million copies on PlayStation, making it one of the best-selling games on the whole system!
The arcade game was a huge success. It was the highest-earning arcade game in Japan in 1998 and sold a large number of copies – tens of thousands – around the world.
As a huge fighting game fan, I remember when Tekken 3 came out and everyone was blown away! It was seriously amazing to play, and a lot of people called it one of the best fighting games ever made. It really put Tekken on the map and helped turn it into the massive series it is today.
Sony hasn’t shared many details about the new release yet, but it will be offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Players can look forward to a classic experience brought to life on today’s consoles, and we can probably expect more improvements and content in the future.
