Clark Gregg has consistently won over Marvel Cinematic Universe fans with his portrayal of Agent Phil Coulson. His character served as the catalyst for the Marvel universe’s formation and played a pivotal role when the Avengers united. When Loki (Tom Hiddleston) appeared to kill Coulson in The Avengers, many viewers were dismayed, but their concerns were alleviated when Coulson reappeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
In the process of creating his Netflix political thriller titled Zero Day, Gregg had the opportunity to cross paths with another illustrious figure from the Marvel universe – Angela Bassett, famously known as the Queen of Wakanda. At the premiere of Zero Day in New York, he expressed his enthusiasm about Anthony Mackie taking up the role of Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World and his joy at witnessing fresh talent flourish within the Marvel realm. However, he also confessed a private pang about his experience with Marvel.
Gregg expressed his excitement. He was overjoyed when Anthony Mackie’s Captain America premiered. He attended the event after a tiring day of rehearsals. He simply enjoys witnessing individuals excelling, he said. Seeing a Black Captain America particularly made his evening special. Moreover, he approached Angela later following the table read and shared, ‘The only regret I have in my Marvel journey, other than Loki’s treacherous act of wounding me, is that I never had a chance to meet the Queen of Wakanda.’
The movie starring Anthony Mackie as the latest Captain America kicked off powerfully, earning $100 million across its first four days. Despite receiving a B- rating from CinemaScore, which may hint at potential drops in income, this film is outperforming several recent Marvel productions.
The movie “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” experienced a significant decline of about 70% during its second week, leading many fans and industry professionals to wonder if “Brave New World” will manage to keep a stronger grip in terms of audience retention.
By February 18, 2025, the film “Captain America: Brave New World” had grossed a total of $204.6 million globally. In the U.S. and Canada, it earned $106.3 million, while in other countries it made $98.3 million. Unfortunately, to recoup its costs, which include a budget of $180 million and marketing expenses, it needs to generate an additional $425 million in revenue.
