CK3 nicknames – All epithets and how to get them

Epithets, or what we now know as nicknames, help make historical figures and characters in stories seem more vivid and memorable.

Like Alexander the Great and William the Conqueror, characters in Crusader Kings 3 can earn nicknames, also known as epithets. These nicknames aren’t always positive – some rulers are known as ‘the Stammerer’ or ‘the Fat’! But whether good, bad, famous, or infamous, receiving an epithet is a significant event for your character, reflecting their experiences and the path they’ve taken throughout the game.

But which nicknames exist in CK3 and how can you obtain them?

All obtainable CK3 nicknames and unlock conditions

Many nicknames are awarded randomly as you progress, so even if you meet the requirements, you might not always get the specific nickname you’re hoping for.

As a history buff, I was really hoping to see some cool nicknames for historical figures, but it turns out a lot of them are just… what people called them back then! Things like ‘Fairhair,’ ‘Bluetooth,’ and ‘the Younger’ aren’t names you can actually get as a player, so the developers left those out.
