As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I’ve been following the ongoing speculation about Cillian Murphy‘s role in “28 Years Later.” Initially, whispers circulated that he would be starring in the film. However, what truly piqued our curiosity was the apparent sighting of Cillian in the “28 Years Later” trailer, seemingly as a zombie. Alas, upon closer inspection, it turned out not to be him. If it had been, it would have been an utterly hilarious cameo, in my opinion.
Now, producer Andrew Macdonald has finally shed some light on Cillian Murphy’s involvement in “28 Years Later” and the future of the “28 Days Later” franchise. As a fan, I can’t wait to learn more!
In a conversation with Empire Magazine, Macdonald stated that Cillian Murphy won’t feature in the upcoming “28 Years Later” film. However, he expressed his hope that Jim may reappear in this new trilogy at some point. As Macdonald put it, “We both wanted him to be part of it, but he won’t appear in the initial movie.” He further added, “I’m hoping we’ll see some character related to Jim somewhere down the line.” For now, Murphy will work behind the scenes as an executive producer. The future may hold more for this character.
It’s been established that the film “28 Days Later: The Bone Temple” has been filmed and is prepared for release. There’s a chance that Jim might appear in it, but they’re choosing to keep his involvement secret for the moment.
