CI Games CEO Addresses Lords of the Fallen 2 Plagiarism Accusations

CI Games, the publisher of Lords of the Fallen 2, is responding to claims that a character design was copied from Elden Ring Nightreign. After posting an image of their upcoming action RPG online, some noticed similarities between the characters. However, the Lords of the Fallen 2 team has provided evidence to show the design is original.

The 2023 game Lords of the Fallen was a follow-up to the 2014 title and, while reviews were mixed, it brought positive attention to its developer, CI Games. A sequel, Lords of the Fallen 2, was announced in August 2025 at Gamescom, with a planned release in 2026, giving fans of the reboot something to anticipate.

Lords of the Fallen 2 Proves Its Artwork Wasn’t Plagiarized

CI Games recently faced plagiarism claims after their official Twitter account posted a picture of a character from the upcoming Lords of the Fallen game. The character, covered in silver armor with blue details and carrying a jagged sword, was described as a former pacifist devoted to the moon goddess Menasilde, returning after a millennium of hardship. However, fans quickly pointed out the striking similarities between this character’s design and the Wylder class from Elden Ring Nightreign, who also wears silver armor with blue accents and wields a similar bladed weapon.

When an image of a new character was released, fans had a wide range of reactions, from noticing similarities to another character to accusing the game developers of plagiarism, with some even claiming outright theft. However, CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski quickly responded, proving the character wasn’t copied from Elden Ring Nightreign. He shared an internal message from July 17, 2024, showing the character design was completed months before Elden Ring Nightreign was even announced in December 2024, making it impossible for his team to have copied the design.

Although details about this new character are limited, the basic idea of a heavily armored knight with blue cloth accents isn’t unusual. What truly sets this character apart is the intricate design of their armor – specifically, the multiple sections of their shoulder and chest pieces, and the intimidating full-face helmet featuring five sharp fins. The design shares some similarities with the character Wylder, but Wylder’s armor is simpler and lighter, with only two silver wings on his helmet. While both characters wield similar-looking swords, Lords of the Fallen features a wide variety of blades, many with dangerous, jagged edges.
