Universal Pictures recently utilized their platform, previously known as Twitter, to share the news that “Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic, filmed worldwide using groundbreaking IMAX film technology. This film marks the first time Homer’s foundational tale will be shown on IMAX screens and it hits theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

Nolan’s film is set to join a succession of screen adaptations based on Homer’s epic tale, The Odyssey. Notable previous versions include the 1954 Italian movie Ulysses starring Kirk Douglas, the 1997 miniseries with Armand Assante, and the recent release, The Return, featuring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche.
