The Twilight series has left a lasting impact on its fans with numerous memorable instances, but the tune that continues to resonate within viewers’ hearts is “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. This song, featured in the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, holds a special place in the story, and Christina Perri herself shared the backstory of its creation and inclusion in the project.
On the occasion of her appearance on The Nikki & Brie Show on SiriusXM last Friday, Perri reminisced about a song she had released in 2011 and expressed, “This tale holds a very unique significance for me.
The singer expressed her strong affection towards the project, referring to herself as “more of a Twi-fanatic”. Perri mentioned that during the production, she was asked to create a song for the wedding scene, which she gladly obliged.
Perri expressed delight, stating that it was an incredibly awesome moment for her when the singer decided to use their chosen song in the credits rather than the wedding scene. Since these books and films are among her all-time favorites, she found this event particularly remarkable.
The artist mentioned that the song was selected to air on the radio as a means of advertising the movie. Interestingly, it quickly became popular among listeners. She went on to say, “So, due to its success, the filmmakers decided to include an extended seven-minute version of ‘A Thousand Years’ in the final cut.
Perri reminisced about crafting the orchestra arrangement of the song and collaborating on it with her beau as a duet. Upon completing this fresh rendition, she mused, “That’s exactly what I wanted.
However, she hadn’t realized at the time that the tune would hold significant meaning for the Twilight series’ followers. On the podcast, Perri explained, “Suddenly, this song isn’t just about Twilight any longer.
She declared that the track has become a theme song, with people using it for both walking down the aisle and performing their first dance. The singer added that this song seems to have a life of its own, continually growing and changing.
She additionally noted that for the following ten years, “Everyone gets married to it and everyone begins having children.” can be likened to the enduring memory among fans of A Thousand Years. However, another significant aspect that is frequently recalled from the series is the chemistry between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.
