Chris Hemsworth recently told a funny story about making the new Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday. He explained on The View that he had to convince his 13-year-old daughter, India Rose, to participate in filming by offering her a little incentive to come to the set and shoot her scenes.
Chris explained that India is now 13, making her a teenager, and a bit more mature than when she filmed ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He remembered her walking onto the set and immediately asking how long the shoot would take, even before they’d begun – a moment that made him laugh.
Filming became more challenging after the first attempt when India asked if they were finished. Chris explained they still had several days of work ahead, and she reacted with classic teenage frustration, letting out a groan and saying something like, “Oh, God.” Chris described her as being typically angsty and said she frequently withdrew to a chair or her tent during breaks between scenes.
Getting India back to work was tricky, and honestly, I had to sweeten the deal a bit. She’d raised a point about getting paid, and I explained that her earnings were being held in trust until she turned 18. But she wasn’t having it – she immediately wanted some money now. I remember her saying, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now!’ It got to the point where even Joe Russo, the co-director, had to jump in and help talk her into finishing the film.
Chris explained that there was a delay because the actress wanted to go to a Billie Eilish concert. Chris had to reassure her that the concert hadn’t started yet and urged her to come to set. Finally, Chris convinced her by pointing out that the money she’d earn could go towards a motorbike she was hoping to buy. The actress admitted she was wondering if she could actually afford it, and Chris encouraged her, saying it was a possibility. That was enough to get her back to work.
The new Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, is scheduled for release on December 18th. It stars Chris and India, as well as returning favorites like Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romjin, and Robert Downey Jr., who will be playing the villain, Dr. Doom.
Chris is also dad to twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 11, whom he shares with wife Elsa Pataky.
