As an ardent fan of Childish Gambino for over a decade now, I can confidently say that his New World Tour has been the highlight of my musical journey! The opening night at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center was nothing short of extraordinary, with a setlist that took me on a nostalgic ride through the years.
On August 11, 2024, Donald Glover (known as Childish Gambino) kicked off his New World Tour at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center with a spectacular first show. The setlist, comprising 29 tracks, featured both fresh tunes and timeless hits during this inaugural performance.
As a devoted fan, I was thrilled to be part of the audience experiencing an exceptional setlist curated by Gambino. This unique performance included a sprinkle of seldom-heard live tracks, along with songs from his latest albums, Bando Stone & the New World and Atavista. The evening’s highlights were undeniably the live renditions of Heartbeat, Freaks and Geeks, Bonfire, and Do Ya Like – tunes that had been absent from his live shows for some time. Moreover, the crowd erupted in joy as he reintroduced the 2013 version of L.E.S., a welcome return to his repertoire.
Apart from these timeless tunes, Gambino showcased popular anthems like “This Is America,” “Sober,” “IV. Sweatpants,” and “Redbone” during his performance. His tour included live renditions of fresh tracks such as “Atavista To Be Hunted” and a collaboration with Kaytranada titled “Witchy.”
As a long-time fan of Gambino, I am beyond thrilled to learn about the upcoming North American leg of his New World Tour. Having attended several of his concerts over the years, I can attest to the electric energy that fills the air when he takes the stage. The fact that this tour will run through August and September, culminating in Chicago on October 3, 2024, is music to my ears.
There are still tickets left for the rest of the North American tour dates, along with upcoming shows in Europe and Australia. The North American part of the tour starts in Milwaukee, WI on August 14, passing through cities like Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago before wrapping up in Saint Paul, MN on October 2. Along the way, the tour will make stops in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston, as well as additional dates in New York and Toronto. Fans in Seattle and Vancouver can look forward to performances before the North American tour comes to an end.
The European segment of our tour kicks off in Lyon, France, on Halloween, October 31st, following the North American part. Notable shows are scheduled in Paris and London, while other destinations en route include Milan, Cologne, and Berlin. Subsequent to these, the tour journeys to Australia and New Zealand, with Auckland as our landing spot on January 28th.
The international tour by Childish Gambino is set to visit Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and finally Perth before wrapping up on February 11 in Perth. This extensive world tour aims to offer diverse and exciting experiences for audiences everywhere. By blending popular tunes with fresh tracks, this New World Tour will allow fans to observe Childish Gambino’s evolving stage presence up close.
