As a devoted fan of Chicago Fire, I cannot help but be moved by the profound depth and emotional resonance that Season 12’s finale, “Never Say Goodbye,” brought to the table. The episode was a testament to human connection, growth, and the unbreakable bond between the city’s bravest firefighters.
The Chicago Fire’s May finale in its twelfth season brought a poignant conclusion, blending the formation of new connections among our beloved firefighters with the bitter-sweet farewells to familiar faces. Despite no fatalities, this season was rich with drama, passion, and intricately woven human feelings.
The episode highlights the importance of embracing change with confidence in one’s abilities, while recognizing personal accomplishments. A consistent motif in the show, the strength of family bonds is deeply explored throughout this installment.
Season 12 finale recap
The narrative brings to life the characters’ journeys of self-improvement and determination as they overcome hurdles in their careers and relationships. It illustrates their ability to bounce back from hardships, demonstrating resilience, and drawing upon their bonds for added fortitude.
In addition, the episode highlights the strong bond between the firefighting crew, depicting them not just as workmates but as a close-knit team resembling a family. Their unity and mutual assistance play a pivotal role in surmounting obstacles and sharing triumphs.
As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer)’s new adventure in Season 12, which takes them to a breathtaking West Coast paradise. It’s a dream come true for the both of them! But, you know what they say, every rose has its thorns. Unfortunately, this new beginning causes some turbulence in Cruz’s (Joe Minoso) and Chloe’s (Kristen Gutoskie) seemingly perfect marriage. I can only imagine the emotions they must be going through as they navigate these uncharted waters. It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
In the final episode of Season 12, Kelly Severide faces the challenge of harmoniously managing his marriage to Stella Kidd and his career ambitions with AFT. Simultaneously, the city is under siege from potential gas leaks, collapsing structures, and explosions, creating an urgent situation ahead of the September 25 premiere of Season 13.
Boden is moving on
In “Never Say Goodbye,” Wallace Boden, played by Eamonn Walker, is the central character. He chooses to step down from the team and relinquish his position as deputy commissioner before Jude Robinson, portrayed by Laura Allen, can take over.
During the course of the series, Boden underwent a transformation, placing emphasis on becoming more mature and accountable. In the last installment of his recurring role, he encounters a significant crossroads that requires him to put his own welfare first. Although he had a secure position, Boden chose to abandon it in order to make a substantial difference within the community.
In this installment, Boden encounters a huge fire that marks a turning point in his story. Putting his team’s safety above all else, he shows unwavering commitment and selflessness. Regrettably, despite his best attempts to rescue everyone, the construction supervisor suffers severe injuries and unfortunately passes away.
