As an ardent fan, I find myself utterly captivated by Cher’s memoir, delving into her extraordinary life experiences that have unfolded like a riveting saga. Her whirlwind romance with Gregg Allman, following her marriage to Sonny Bono, is a testament to the unpredictable tapestry of love and life that she weaves so beautifully.
Cher reflects on her impulsive second marriage to Gregg Allman in Cher: The Memoir, Part One.
Following the end of her marriage to Sonny Bono in June 1975, the renowned musician embarked on a new passionate romance – this time with Gregg Allman, the acclaimed vocalist of the Allman Brothers Band. Their romantic journey started only six days after her marital separation.
78-year-old songstress who gained fame with “Believe,” expressed doubts about her romance with Allman. She confessed that she wasn’t certain if their bond would endure, however, upon learning of her pregnancy, they chose to tie the knot instead.
In a rush, the wedding was quickly organized, leaving her sister and a companion in awe as the singer of If I Could Turn Back Time made a beeline for Las Vegas to seal the deal with a marriage ceremony.
Cher had doubts about the longevity of her relationship with Gregory. She was taking things one day at a time. However, when she discovered she was expecting, they chose to tie the knot.
She commented, “I simply continued moving forward, step by step. The course of the future isn’t etched in stone. I acted as I believed was the best course of action.
Looking back on the event, she mentioned that their wedding wasn’t particularly romantic, featuring a short ceremony followed by a quick trip back to California. After nine days of separating with divorce proceedings, the couple managed to reconcile and welcomed their son, Elijah Blue Allman, in 1976. Their marriage lasted until 1979.
On the day of our wedding, there was no trace of romance, she clarified. Sadly, Allman passed away in 2017 due to complications related to liver cancer at the age of 69.
Cher’s memoir delves into various facets of her life, including her multifaceted bond with Sonny Bono, her connection with Gene Simmons, candid accounts of losing her virginity at a tender age, an intriguing incident involving a tipsy John Lennon at the Playboy Mansion, and much more. The second part of her memoir is scheduled for release in 2025.
