Cher and Dick Van Dyke Forced To Evacuate Malibu Homes As Franklin Fire Scorches Over 3,000 Acres; Latest On The Crisis Here

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy for these iconic figures like Cher and Dick Van Dyke who are once again faced with the devastating reality of wildfires in their beloved Malibu. Having witnessed the destructive power of nature through events such as the Woolsey Fire in 2018, I can’t help but be reminded of the fragility and unpredictability of our lives and homes.

According to reports, both Cher and Dick Van Dyke are said to have left their Malibu homes due to the ongoing spread of the Franklin fire, which started on December 9 and has been burning and destroying properties ever since.

98-year-old star of Mary Poppins, Dick Van Dyke, shared on Facebook that he and his wife, Arlene, along with their pets (excluding Bobo), evacuated their home on Tuesday due to a fire. In his post, he mentioned that Bobo, the family’s cat, managed to slip away as they hurriedly left. He expressed concern for Bobo’s safety, as well as the community in Serra Retreat where the blaze is currently raging.

On Monday evening, Cher, who is 78 years old, along with her beloved pets, decided to stay at a hotel, as confirmed by her representative to The New York Times.

Actress Barbra Streisand, aged 82, is known to live in Malibu as well; however, her representative has not confirmed her current location, according to reports from Tuesday.

At the time this piece was written, the Franklin fire had burned over 3,000 acres of terrain ever since it started, as reported by California Fire Department officials.

According to USA Today, the fire is completely uncontained at this point, with no reported injuries or casualties as of now. The flames were fanned by strong Santa Ana winds and dry weather, but the exact cause remains undetermined.

The Weather Service anticipates that a warning for high winds will persist until Wednesday. They’ve forecasted wind speeds of up to 45 mph, with potential gusts reaching 65 mph.

Fires have devastated Malibu before, impacting many Hollywood celebrities.

Back in November 2018, the devastating Woolsey Fire destroyed my multimillion-dollar residence, a place I once called home with my then-spouse, Liam Hemsworth. In those poignant moments, I penned down, “Though the structure of my house has crumbled, the cherished memories shared with loved ones endure unscathed.” I consider myself among the fortunate few. My beloved pets and the love of my life were spared, and that’s all that truly matters at this juncture.

According to numerous news outlets, Gerard Butler, Robin Thicke, and Neil Young were among those who unfortunately lost their homes due to a fire.
