I was really surprised to see Nicki Minaj at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest this weekend! She did an interview with Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, and ended up giving some pretty strong praise to Donald Trump and JD Vance. She actually called them ‘role models,’ which definitely caught my attention. It was unexpected, to say the least!
I was really surprised to hear her come after Governor Newsom, even giving him a harsh nickname! She then went on to praise President Biden and JD Vance, saying they’re relatable role models for young men. It was interesting to hear her say that the whole administration seems to have a lot of genuine people, and that made her feel proud. Honestly, it was a pretty unexpected take from her.
A video from April 2024 recently reappeared, showing Charlie Kirk with a contrasting opinion of Nicki Minaj. In the video, he criticized both Minaj and Cardi B, stating they weren’t good role models for young Black women.
He expressed concern that Black culture is being negatively influenced by current trends in music and the examples set by some popular artists. Specifically, he questioned whether Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are positive role models for young Black women. He also criticized songs that he believes explicitly celebrate harmful and disrespectful depictions of women.

On September 10th, Kirk was fatally shot at a debate event on a college campus in Utah. Governor Spencer Cox called the shooting a “political assassination.” It’s currently unknown if Kirk had altered his opinion of Nicki Minaj before he died.
Kirk’s supporters also pointed to a 2021 tweet where he criticized how the Democratic Party handled Nicki Minaj. In it, he claimed the party’s actions proved they didn’t genuinely care about Black people, particularly those who didn’t follow their lead, and only sought their votes every four years. He added that people were beginning to realize this.
Nicki Minaj has consistently used her platform to discuss important issues. In November 2025, she participated in a United Nations event to highlight concerns about the treatment of Christians in Nigeria. Her involvement in events like AmericaFest, along with her outspoken views, have once again led to conversations about how much influence celebrities have and whether they should be considered role models.
