Charlie Cox, the actor portraying Daredevil in Netflix’s series based on Marvel Comics, expresses a desire for his character to receive an update in the future. It seems fitting that such an upgrade for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) character would involve a role in the upcoming Avengers films.
During an interview with GQ, the actor who played Treason hinted that it’s “quite likely” his character could show up in future Marvel productions, building on his brief role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and aiming for a more substantial appearance next time around.
Cox expressed his desire to join upcoming Avengers films such as Doomsday or Secret Wars, which are highly anticipated in the Marvel series. He further stated, “I strangely think it would be quite exciting for the character if he could receive such an upgrade.
After facing a bumpy path to achievement, it seemed as if destiny had stepped in when Charlie Cox was offered the role of Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Reflecting on his past, the actor remembered finding himself unemployed after starring in Stardust (2007), attending a transformative retreat, and setting off on a journey back to professional success.
Essentially, Cox significantly revitalized his professional life and found the process incredibly humbling. Upon reading the book King, Warrior, Magician, Lover, which delves into a more balanced form of masculinity, the actor felt inspired to focus on personal growth and subsequently participated in a men’s retreat.
As someone who often prioritized others over himself, labeling himself as a “people pleaser,” Cox struggled to discover his authentic self. However, the retreat proved instrumental in helping him find that elusive self. During this transformative period, he bravely auditioned for Netflix’s version of Marvel’s Daredevil and was even called back.
The character of Matt Murdock, famously known as Daredevil in Marvel comics, was initially portrayed as tall, red-haired, and blind. However, against all odds, Charlie Cox persisted in securing the role. He boldly declared, “For some reason, after going through this empowering process, I said, ‘I will join the project, but I’ll only audition for Matt. I’ll only read for the main character.’
The upcoming movie for the franchise, titled “Daredevil: Born Again,” is scheduled for a theater release on March 4, 2025.
