A recent rumor suggests that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil, appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
As a big film fan, I’ve been hearing that Jon Bernthal is coming back as The Punisher, which is fantastic news! And apparently, Spider-Man 4 is aiming for a more grounded, street-level feel. Honestly, that makes adding Daredevil – the Man Without Fear – to the movie seem like a really smart move. It just fits the vibe they’re going for, you know?
What does the rumor say?
The story started with Nuke The Fridge, who says a friend mentioned Charlie Cox is traveling to the UK to work on Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Essentially, a source casually let them know about the potential filming location.
Based on what we know, the person who shared the information wasn’t aware it was a major spoiler. They let it slip without realizing their friend was a fan of comics and similar things.
It’s so funny, the exact same thing actually happened to me when I first shared the Avengers: Endgame title – that was a big deal, a Tier 1 secret! So, yeah, I totally believe this could happen.
Just so you know, the Marvel fans on Reddit who defend the company are now questioning and complaining about the Nuke The Fridge rumor (which is typical for them, honestly). I suspect they weren’t around a while back when Nuke The Fridge first released those initial images of Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel from Edwards Air Force Base.
It seems Charlie Cox might be featured in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. We’ll likely learn the truth soon enough.
Cox will also be back for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, and a cameo in Spidey could really help the show gain momentum. Season 2 is set to launch next year.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Release info
The film gets released on July 31, 2026, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
The film features Tom Holland, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas also star in currently undisclosed roles.
I’m really excited to hear that Jon Bernthal is returning as The Punisher! There’s also a lot of buzz that Mark Ruffalo might be playing Savage Hulk, which would be amazing. And it looks like Michael Mando is taking on the role of Scorpion – I loved him in Better Call Saul, so I have high hopes! Finally, Marvin Jones III is set to play Tombstone. It’s shaping up to be a great cast!
There’s talk that Florence Pugh will reprise her role as Yelena, and speculation suggests the film’s antagonist might be Lady Chameleon.
