As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in the entertainment industry under my belt, I must say that Charli XCX‘s double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live was nothing short of impressive. Her ability to seamlessly transition between comedic sketches and sensational performances is a testament to her versatility and talent.
In the November 16th installment of Saturday Night Live, Charli XCX skillfully juggled two roles: she served as both the show’s host and musical performer. Remarkably, she managed to excel in both capacities, providing side-splitting skits and mesmerizing musical numbers.
One option for rephrasing this in a more natural and easy-to-read manner: In one skit, they presented a modified take on Ariana Grande’s trending ‘Domingo’ skit, where the singer humorously sang a misaligned rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s song Espresso alongside SNL cast members Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, and Sarah Sherman. Originally, in the Bridesmaid Speech skit, Kelsey (Chloe Fineman) and her bridesmaids, also known as the “Kel-squad,” sang a song detailing their bachelorette trip, but it ended up being somewhat too explicit.
The song tells the story where Kelcey encounters a man named Domingo, eventually finding themselves in a romantic situation together, quite unexpectedly in front of Matthew (portrayed by Andrew Dismukes). In an updated rendition of the skit, Fineman and Dismukes reappear as the couple, with Fineman being pregnant this time around. The new theme for this skit is a baby shower celebration.
In the comedy act named “Babymoon,” originally the Kel-squad (excluding Grande) teamed up with Charlie to sing a number dedicated to the current “MILF of the moment,” Kelcey. This performance was a playful take on Chappell Roan’s song, Hot To Go, in which the girl group humorously recounted their babymoon trip to Miami, all while sharing the text conversation between Kelcey and Domingo that was part of the parody.
“We have facials at the spa, but Kelsey’s silent there,” then, “We tell her to put down her phone because we know who she’s messaging! We know who she’s messaging! D-O-M-I-N-G-O,” they sang suggestively, insinuating that Domingo might be the baby’s father. The humor reached its climax when Domingo (played by Marcello Hernandez) actually showed up during the song.
Regarding the musical performances, the artist behind “So Confusing” chose to sing her tune titled 360, with lyrics like “I’m everywhere/I’m so Julia,” in reference to Julia Fox. It was fitting that Julia Fox introduced Charlie prior to this performance. Additionally, she sang Sympathy is a Knife, which interestingly ties back to Grande as she featured on the remix version of that track.
