Channing Tatum Teases ‘Avengers Doomsday’: Fans ‘Not Ready’ for What’s Coming

Channing Tatum will definitely reprise his role as Gambit in Marvel’s next movie, Avengers: Doomsday, and he’s already given some teasers about what fans can expect.

During an appearance on The Supes Show, Tatum hinted at the upcoming movie, stating, “You’re going to be surprised by this one. I can’t reveal details, but similar to how people felt about Deadpool Wolverine, I have a feeling audiences won’t be prepared.”

“I predicted people would be overwhelmed-almost shocked-by what they see when Blade appears on screen, and I think this new version will intensify that reaction even further.” He said.

Tatum has already stated that Gambit will battle Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, and he’s hinted at a large-scale action scene.

He also discussed what sets his character apart from typical heroes, explaining, “He enjoys the company of women, he smokes, and he drinks. He’s not solely focused on saving the world – we need heroes like that, but we also need characters who offer something different.” The actor further mentioned that he collaborated with Marvel to perfect Gambit’s accent, ultimately choosing to avoid a completely Cajun delivery.

The directors of the film, the Russo brothers, are hoping Gambit will add both comedic moments and emotional depth to the narrative. As Channing Tatum explained, “When Gambit becomes serious – when he removes his Mardi Gras mask – his actions carry real significance.”

Shooting the film in London was challenging, involving long workdays, but Tatum found the experience worthwhile. He mentioned he briefly thought about leaving the project to spend time with his daughter, but he ultimately chose to stay, explaining, “It’s OK. She’s going into middle school now.”

Tatum debuted as Gambit in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, and the character immediately resonated with audiences. He’s now back alongside established X-Men stars such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden.

Tatum is familiar with the character, as he was previously set to star in a standalone Gambit movie. However, that project was cancelled when Disney bought Fox in 2019.

People are really excited that Gambit is back, and they’re talking about it a lot online. They’re wondering how he’ll play a role in the overall Avengers storyline, particularly after suggestions that he might face off against Doctor Doom. It seems like there’s a lot of speculation about what’s to come.

Avengers: Doomsday promises to be a thrilling and unforgettable movie for fans of both Marvel and X-Men. Director Tatum has built excitement with talk of amazing action scenes and has already gotten people looking forward to the film.
