Chainsaw Man Chapter 173 Explained: Everyone Loses Ears And A New Primal Devil Appears

As a dedicated follower of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man, I must confess that this latest chapter left me scratching my earless head! After eagerly anticipating the battle between Pochita and Yoru, we were treated to an unexpected twist: a Devil-induced global epidemic of missing ears.

Instead of eagerly anticipating a clash between Pochito and War Devil, Yoru, fans were surprised when Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man took an unexpected turn in the latest episode. Instead of battling, Pochito was compelled to expel a Devil it had previously consumed, with the help of Public Safety members and Hirofumi Yoshida.

In Chapter 173 of Chainsaw Man, titled ‘The Deaf’, we began by witnessing a series of events where characters from various species, including humans and cats, suddenly found themselves earless. This was depicted in various scenes: a man struggling to use his phone due to his missing ears, elephants without ears, and residents of Tokyo walking around without their hearing organs.

In my line of work as a lifestyle expert, I often find myself navigating through situations that can get quite chaotic – especially when it comes to public safety matters. Recently, I encountered such a scenario where confusion reigned supreme among the law enforcement officers, who were struggling to communicate effectively with one another, resorting to gestures and signs.

Three individuals amputate their left index fingers, then utilize the sliced-off hand pieces to compose letters on a mirror they’re holding. One wrote ‘H’, whispering ‘cervical spine’, while the others wrote ‘I’ and ‘T’, mumbling ‘neck’ and ‘vertebrae’ respectively. The letters formed the word ‘HIT’, revealing a hint of a fresh Primal Devil in the mirror reflections.

In this grisly scene, the enigmatic Primordial Fiend is depicted seated upon a macabre throne constructed entirely from human remains, flanked by two mutilated individuals who serve as its base with their stump-like arm ends. The artwork is filled with grotesque imagery of human body parts, creating an unsettling and gruesome tableau. The Devil’s visage lacked distinct facial features on one side, leaving its gender ambiguous.

In the scene, the Devil makes a threatening gesture, and our attention turns to Pochita who had recently finished his meal with the Ear Devil. Suddenly, a mirror floats above Pochita, and the Devil seizes him with his hand. Determined, Pochita manages to chop off two of the Devil’s fingers before attempting an escape. However, just as he was about to flee, Hirofumi Yoshida enters the picture, using the Octopus Devil to apprehend Pochita instead.

In this scene, the Devil acknowledges Yoshia’s excellent work before pinching Pochita, causing him to vomit the Ear Devil’s head. As the chapter concludes, we discover that the elephants have regained their ear-flapping abilities. Now that everyone’s ears are intact and Pochita appears contained by Public Safety, it will be intriguing to see what unfolds next! Keep an eye out for further developments in Chainsaw Man!
