CHAINSAW MAN Announces Next Chapter Will Be Its Last

Fans of the anime series Chainsaw Man were surprised to learn that the current story arc will finish with the next installment. The news came unexpectedly. This second part, known as the Academy Saga, will officially conclude in two weeks, with chapter 232 marking the end of the series on March 24th.

On March 10th, a surprising announcement was made on the official Japanese Chainsaw Man social media account. Fans didn’t expect it to happen so soon! The manga, which comes out every two weeks, first began on July 13, 2022. While the second part of the hit series has been a little more divisive than the first, it’s still incredibly popular. This week’s chapter ended on a sad note (beware of spoilers!) with Pochita saying goodbye to Denji and sacrificing himself. With only one chapter remaining, it seems like a lot of story will be concluded quickly.

Chapter 231 opens with Pochita revealing to Denji that they’ve both been consumed by a devil. Pochita reminisces about being happier earlier in the story, when he was struggling to survive by selling parts of himself and eating old bread. He then begins to devour himself, effectively erasing Chainsaw Man from existence. His final words to Denji are, “Keep on dreaming,” urging him to do so in a world where Pochita is no longer present. The chapter ends with a view of the rundown shack where Denji lived at the beginning of the series.

Will Chainsaw Man See a Part 3?

Whether or not Tatsuki Fujimoto will continue the story of Chainsaw Man with a Part 3 is currently unknown. Many fans are hoping for another part to resolve the loose ends from the abrupt ending of Part 2. While a final part could give Denji and Asa’s story a proper conclusion, it seems unlikely, particularly considering the implications of a world without Pochita. The 232nd chapter of Chainsaw Man will be available on Jump Plus within Japan, and Manga Plus for readers outside of Japan.
