Chadwick Boseman’s wife Simone Ledward breaks down, places his shoes as he’s honoured with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame

Chadwick Boseman, the beloved actor who famously played Black Panther, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after his passing. At the moving ceremony on November 20th, his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, placed a pair of his shoes on the star as a touching symbol of him being honored. Family, friends, and fellow actors from his films were there to celebrate his life and legacy.

Simone, who had secretly married Chadwick months before he passed away, brought a framed photo of him to the ceremony. She shared the special moment with his brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, to celebrate his life and memory. According to E! News, she described Chadwick as much more than just an actor, saying he was a spiritual guide strengthened by his family and close friends who kept him rooted in faith. She also spoke of a supportive team who believed in, protected, and fought for him, as well as colleagues who trusted his ideas and formed a strong bond of brotherhood.

How Chadwick Boseman inspired generations

The ceremony brought together important people from Chadwick Boseman’s career, including his Black Panther colleagues Michael B. Jordan and Letitia Wright, and the film’s director, Ryan Coogler. Coogler remembered Chadwick as a remarkably giving person, explaining that even as his health declined, he remained dedicated to his work and poured his heart into every role.

Viola Davis, a co-star of Chadwick Boseman in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,’ shared that his work helped people feel less isolated. She emphasized he was more than just a talented actor, offering a deeply impactful presence.

Chadwick Boseman started his acting career on stage and in television before transitioning to movies. He first played T’Challa, also known as Black Panther, in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War, and then starred in his own Black Panther movie in 2018. This made him the first Black actor to lead a major Marvel film series. Even though he was secretly fighting colon cancer for four years, he continued to dedicate himself to his work, performing his own stunts and fully immersing himself in each role, according to director Ryan Coogler.

During the ceremony, Simone spoke about the profound impact Chadwick had on everyone. She shared, “Chadwick taught us so much. He had an enormous heart and gave a piece of himself to each person he met, yet still had so much love to give. ” Addressing Chadwick directly, she continued, “We acknowledge your talent and dedication, and we celebrate your lasting legacy as a hero and an icon. You lived with integrity and always spoke your truth. You were brilliant and handsome, and as brave as you were compassionate. We love you, we miss you, and we are grateful for everything.”

It was so moving to see Bob Iger, along with Chadwick’s loved ones, at the ceremony. It really felt like a beautiful tribute to everything Chadwick accomplished and the incredible impact he had on Hollywood. It was a perfect way to honor his memory.
