Chad Stahelski Rumored to Direct Marvel’s Blade Reboot

There are whispers that John Wick’s director, Chad Stahelski, might take on the job of helming the Marvel Blade film featuring Mahershala Ali.

Blade has been in development hell and has been in the works for at least six years now.

The project has gone through at least three directors and upwards of a half dozen writers.

What does the Chad Stahelski Blade rumor say?

The rumor first surfaced via World of Reel, withJeff Sneider now backing up the claim.

According to Sneider, Cary Fukunaga has left the project ‘Blade’ due to creative disagreements, and he thinks it’s likely that rumors about Stahelski taking over are accurate.

As your friendly neighborhood film critic at World of Reel, I’m thrilled to share that the talented duo, Michael Green and Eric Pearson, have put the finishing touches on the script for an upcoming Marvel production. Excitingly, the studio has tapped in the skilled hands of David Leitch, known as Stahelski, to helm this project. Can’t wait to see what magic they’ll weave on the silver screen!

According to the latest updates, Kevin Feige remains committed to the idea of Blade and is aiming for an R rating, with a production budget estimated at approximately $80 million.

Chad Stahelski would love to take on Blade

Stahelski has a history with Marvel productions. He handled stunts in Iron Man 2 and served as the second unit director in Captain America: Civil War. Recently, during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stahelski expressed his interest in directing Blade.

I’ve had a lot of experience working with Marvel, and they’ve been incredibly generous towards me. Kevin Feige has been like a mentor in many ways, offering valuable advice on launching a new franchise based on the John Wick series.

Among all options available, I’d be eager to confront Blade instantly. He truly irks me, as if I could hardly resist the urge to challenge him.

We’ve discussed this topic, but it seems they’ve found a successful approach… They appear to be on the right track, and I believe they’ve assembled the right team for Blade at the moment.

What’s next for Chad Stahelski?

Currently, Stanley Kraftskik is quite occupied since he’s managing the entirety of the John Wick series at Lionsgate. The film Ballerina, set for release on June 6, was one where Stahelski was deeply involved in reshoots, as reported.

He’s also next directing Henry Cavill in the Highlander reboot, which will film in Scotland.

IMDb credits John Wick director, Stahelski, with numerous upcoming projects such as Ghosts of Tsushima, Shibumi, Black Samurai, Vice City, Rain, Sandman Slim, Rainbow Six, Kill or be Killed, and Gangsters of Shanghai. It’s also rumored that a fifth installment of John Wick is in development.
