Catfish Host Nev Schulman Says ‘Life Can Change in an Instant’ After His Accident; Find Out What He Said

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience, I find Nev Schulman‘s story to be a profound reminder of the fragility and preciousness of life. His bicycle accident, which left him with a double fracture in his neck, is a stark reminder that our lives can change in an instant.

Nev Schuman, famously recognized as the host of MTV’s Catfish, shared some unfortunate news about a recent accident. On August 10th, last Saturday, Schuman disclosed via Instagram that he had sustained a double neck fracture in a shocking bicycle collision. In his post, he pondered over life’s swift changes and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from everyone.

Last Monday took a drastic turn for me after an incredible day of fishing with my loved ones. The contrast between our joyful moments and what followed was as clear as the term I used – stark. One instant, we were laughing and bonding as a family, and the next, we found ourselves grappling for survival. In a heartfelt Instagram post, I shared, “Monday wasn’t like that.” I couldn’t help but reflect on how quickly things can shift, and I felt incredibly fortunate to have shared those precious moments with my dear ones before this unexpected event impacted us.

“Monday wasn’t ordinary; it made me understand the significance of ‘before the incident’. It also highlighted the fortunate fact that I had Sunday. As they say, life can turn around swiftly.” (Or)

He did not mention why he failed to pick up his son from school on the day of the accident. Schulman related how terrifying it was when he crashed and became alone on his bicycle as he collided with the truck and then the roadside. The crash was so severe that initially it knocked him unconscious, but later he regained consciousness, although unsure about what injuries he had.

In his post, Schulman shared that he sustained an injury to his neck, specifically between the C5 and C6 vertebrae. This is a serious injury, but luckily for him, there’s no reported paralysis. Initially, there were concerns about whether his hands would regain function, but fortunately, they have fully recovered. Schulman expressed admiration for human resilience and was amazed at how far he’s progressed in his recovery process.

Schulman’s post overflowed with gratitude. He mentioned the accident, which provided him a unique chance to cherish life more deeply than before. Things that seemed insignificant prior to the incident now hold significant value for him. In his words, “I feel fortunate to be alive, to stand tall and embrace my loved ones.” Furthermore, he finds everyday occurrences profoundly meaningful now, as these moments are things that Schulman no longer wishes to underestimate as he once did.

During his entire hospital stay, Schulman was accompanied by his wife Laura Perlongo, along with their three kids – Cleo (age 7), Beau (age 5), and Cy (age 2). These children played a significant role in supporting Schulman as he dealt with his injury and the recovery process. Their presence offered some comfort to him during this challenging time.

Schulman shared insights gained through his experiences, emphasizing the value of making the most of each moment life offers. He expressed joy and gratitude for the compassionate care he received during his recovery process.

Though Schulman failed to elaborate further about the incident’s details, it was evident that the event dramatically transformed his outlook on life, causing him to appreciate every moment and occurrence in his surroundings more deeply – a sentiment that resonates with her as daily events can significantly impact one’s life.
