To verify if the claims about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch were accurate, I decided to check it out myself… and indeed, it’s true. The game struggles to maintain a stable 30fps on the handheld, and performance issues are apparent whether you’re exploring indoor or outdoor settings. However, I did get a glimpse of the two unique starting classes exclusive to the Tarnished Edition: the Idus Knight (or possibly Ides Knight) and the Heavy Knight. A representative from Bandai Namco informed me that the former begins with the Milady greatsword, which was previously available in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but rave about two incredible mods for “Morrowind”. Firstly, there’s “Project Tamriel” which is on a mission to merge all of Tamriel into the game world and timeline of the third “Elder Scrolls”, while maintaining the original lore that got tweaked in “Oblivion” and “Skyrim”. It’s like stepping into an expansive, untouched corner of Tamriel.
Secondly, there’s “Tamriel Rebuilt”, a mod that breathes new life into “The Elder Scrolls 3” by adding the entire Morrowind mainland for players to explore. It’s not just about expanding the game world, but also preserving the game’s lore and introducing fresh cities, characters, and tales waiting to be uncovered. These mods are a testament to the passion and creativity of the Elder Scrolls community.
Kaiju No. 8: The Game offers unique narratives set in a well-known environment, all voice-acted and developed in partnership with Matsumoto. Besides enjoying the game’s exclusive plots, players can reenact scenes from the manga or anime or immerse themselves in casual, day-to-day tales featuring the franchise’s characters.
After speaking with Brandon Adler, the game director at Obsidian, about their approach to romance in the upcoming sequel during Gamescom 2025, I must admit that the studio’s vision for companion relationships is beginning to appeal to me.
