At Big Lick Comic Con, Judith Hoag – who played April O’Neil in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy – hinted she’d been asked to appear in the canceled The Last Ronin movie and would be thrilled to do so, calling it a fitting conclusion to her involvement with the series. This suggests the film was intended as a direct sequel to the original trilogy, which would have been exciting. While the movie is currently on hold, there’s still a chance Paramount might decide to make it after all. Currently, Paramount seems to be focusing on making TMNT more appealing to children, hoping to recapture the franchise’s popularity from the 1990s.

Initially, I didn’t think the idea that the show would continue indefinitely made much sense. I understand fans wanting more Stranger Things, but it felt like the story had already reached a natural conclusion after ten years. I believe some viewers lost sight of the show’s core concept and started expecting more seasons. However, I think it’s all part of the storytelling, specifically through Mike’s perspective, which has been consistent since the first season.

The announcement was made at Prime Video’s first international content event in London. It’s part of Prime’s plan for Asian shows and movies coming in 2026. In addition to the new cyberpunk series, Prime revealed several other titles debuting this year, including the Korean drama Human x Gumiho (currently in development), a supernatural romance with Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang Wook, and a film produced by Alia Bhatt.
