As a long-time comics fan, I remember when Checkmate first showed up! It was created by Paul Kupperberg, who actually wrote the original *Peacemaker* series back in the ’80s, along with artist Steve Irwen. They debuted in *Action Comics* #598, and didn’t long after get their own ongoing series. But what’s really interesting is that Checkmate didn’t come out of nowhere. It evolved from an earlier organization called the Agency, which was basically a part of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X. A key operative in the Agency was Valentina Vostok – you might recognize her as a former member of the Doom Patrol. Eventually, they decided a rebrand was in order, and the Agency became the Checkmate we know today.

The episode largely focuses on the aftermath of Peacemaker’s return from the alternate, Nazi-controlled Earth (let’s call it Earth X). He’s struggling with guilt over his alternate father Auggie’s death and the injuries his brother Keith sustained, caused by both Eagly and Harcourt. After being released from jail by his friends, Chris initially reverts to his old coping mechanisms – casual sex and drugs. However, Adebayo helps him realize he isn’t to blame for everything, challenging his belief that he’s a harbinger of death. She successfully connects with him, and he even begins a romantic relationship with Emilia Harcourt. The episode concludes with Chris joining his team to form a new organization called Checkmate.

We found a problem where some players were given rewards for the Fiend Hunter season even if they didn’t play it. This happened if a player earned rewards in a past Fiend Hunter season but didn’t collect them, and then skipped the next season.

Eleven produces this series for BBC iPlayer and BBC One. It’s also a co-production with Stan, who will show the show in Australia. Sony Pictures Television is handling international distribution.

Get ready, Minecraft fans! Warner Bros. has announced a sequel to the Minecraft Movie, scheduled to hit theaters on July 23, 2027. While the official title is still to be determined, the current working title seems to be centered around two Minecraft axes, as seen on the movie’s initial poster.

At New York Comic Con, the panel “Critical Role & Prime Video: A Decade of Adventure and The Animated World of Exandria” (available to watch for free on TopMob) gave fans a sneak peek behind the scenes and a trailer for *The Mighty Nein*. This new show is the follow-up to the popular *The Legend of Vox Machina*.

The first season of the show is based on George R.R. Martin’s novella, “The Hedge Knight,” which features his characters Dunk and Egg. Martin himself says the adaptation is very true to the source material, and the trailer demonstrates this. It’s filled with characters and scenes taken directly from the book. The story centers on Ser Duncan the Tall, a courageous but reckless hedge knight, and his determined young squire.
