Starring alongside Odenkirk in the crime thriller are Henry Winkler and Lena Headey. Ben Wheatley (Kill List; Meg 2: The Trench) directs, while Odenkirk, Kolstad, and Marc Provissiero produce. The film’s official synopsis is as follows:

Ten years after the first movie, The Mummy Returns takes place in 1933. Our adventurous heroes, Rick and Evelyn O’Connell, are now married with an eight-year-old son named Alex, and living in London. They bring Alex with them on their trips to Egypt, where they accidentally discover a valuable artifact called the Bracelet of Anubis. This bracelet once belonged to the Scorpion King (played by Dwayne Johnson in his first major movie role) and has the power to control his army of fierce, jackal-headed warriors.

Let me tell you about the character when we first meet him. He’s at his absolute lowest point, completely numbing the pain with medication and stuck in a self-made, isolating existence within the walls of this huge, old house. It’s like he’s neither fully living nor truly gone – just existing in a strange in-between space. He’s actively shutting out the world, and more heartbreakingly, he’s ignoring the people who care about him.

Bill Corbett, one of the main people behind RiffTrax and returning as Crow T. Robot and Brain Guy for the new MST3K episodes, was thrilled to announce the news. He shared the details with TopMob:

Both games offered a more realistic yet still grand adventure, with richer characters and a more detailed world. The switch from Greek mythology to the stories of Norse gods was well-received, and now it’s the foundation for a new live-action series from Amazon that has recently begun filming.
