It wasn’t unexpected that Critical Role was venturing into a video game project, considering they are known for being voice actors in video games. However, their choice to collaborate with a relatively new studio, AdHoc, took many by surprise. Although AdHoc is founded by industry veterans (including some who previously worked at Telltale Studio), they don’t have a significant history of releases. In fact, Dispatch is their debut video game. The decision to create a narrative choice game was also unexpected, as games like Baldur’s Gate 3 are currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Critical Role seems more suited for a deep-rooted RPG game.

Cregger shared with Comicbook.com that he has played every game in its entirety. He confessed to replaying ‘Resident Evil 4’ over a hundred times, being completely captivated by it. Therefore, his aim is to craft a narrative that pays tribute to the immersive feeling you get when playing these games.

Unlike Gilligan’s previous works, this show doesn’t revolve around an antihero. Instead, we can wholeheartedly support the main character in this instance. Additionally, Karolina Wydra, known for her role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will be joining the cast as Ana.
