The upcoming Star Trek movie will be a fresh start, completely separate from any of the other Star Trek films Paramount has tried to develop over the last ten years. The last installment, Star Trek Beyond, didn’t perform well in 2016, and several subsequent movie ideas were never approved. This new film will feature an entirely new cast of characters. Based on the work of the filmmakers involved, it’s likely the movie will be funny, similar to their Dungeons & Dragons film, though it probably won’t be a straight-up comedy. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be released until after 2027, meaning it will miss Star Trek‘s 60th anniversary.

Fathom Entertainment is bringing the classic film Labyrinth back to theaters! To celebrate its 40th anniversary, a newly remastered 4K version starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly will be shown January 8-11. A special 4K Steelbook edition is also available. The theatrical event includes a featurette celebrating Labyrinth fans, filmed at the recent “Labyrinth Experience & Masked Ball” in the UK, presented by Thames Con in association with The Jim Henson Company.

Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to add the acclaimed series Mad Men to HBO Max. According to Royce Battleman, the company’s head of content acquisitions, viewers will be able to watch the show in a newly remastered 4K format.

Christopher Nolan recently discussed his new, large-scale adaptation of the classic Greek poem with Empire magazine. He shared that this film was a passion project decades in the making, finally allowing him to realize a long-held vision. While Nolan was once considered to direct the 2004 film Troy, Wolfgang Petersen ultimately took on that role. He more than compensated for that missed opportunity with his latest movie, which involved 91 days of filming – and a massive amount of footage. “We filmed over two million feet of film,” Nolan revealed.

The trailer also features a surprise appearance by rapper Ice Spice, known for her curly hair. Seeing her transformed into a talking fish was unexpected, but perfectly fits the silly spirit of a Spongebob movie. The trailer’s soundtrack includes Ice Spice’s new song, “Big Guy,” which seamlessly blends into a dramatic version of Ozzy Osbourne’s classic, “Crazy Train.”

Static Shock was groundbreaking as one of the few Black superheroes to lead his own TV show at a time when representation was limited. In the early 2000s, the only other Black superheroes appearing in animated series were John Stewart (Justice League), Storm and Evans (X-Men Evolution), and Cyborg and Bumblebee (Teen Titans). This was actually a wider range of options than what was available in movies during the 1990s and 2000s, which featured Blade, Storm from X-Men, and Catwoman.
