As a movie and TV lover, I always remember Patricia Routledge with a smile. She had such an incredible career, really shining on stage, television, and in films. While most people instantly think of her as the wonderfully snobbish Hyacinth Bucket in the BBC series – and honestly, that role is iconic! – I also really appreciated her more subtle work, like in Alan Bennett’s television monologues. And I was a big fan of her as Hetty Wainthropp, the amateur detective in the BBC One mystery series. She was just a fantastic actress, truly versatile. It’s sad to see her go, but her work will definitely live on. You can find some of her work on BBC iPlayer.
