The final season of Stranger Things is arriving in just over six weeks! For nearly ten years, we’ve been captivated by the adventures of the heroes in Hawkins as they fought the terrifying forces of the Upside Down. Many of us have grown up alongside the show’s cast, and it’s become a significant part of our lives. Now, this incredible story is coming to an end, and it’s hard to say goodbye.
Almost nine years after it first aired, the cast is revisiting the beginning and sharing memories of the most memorable scenes from Season One. Check out the full video below!
The actors watched back episodes from the first season, sharing their thoughts and memories as they re-lived important scenes. Fans loved hearing the fun stories and interesting details the cast revealed about making the show.
The Cast Shared Stories of D&D and Genuine Friendships
The main four actors from the show frequently played the role-playing game *Dungeons & Dragons*, and it’s actually a key part of the story. While Caleb McLaughlin, who plays one of the characters, hasn’t ever played the game himself, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard both enjoy playing it.
Wolfhard explained that playing Dungeons & Dragons is more enjoyable when you’re not leading the game. He added that the key is to fully commit to your character and the story.
It’s amazing to see how close the cast has become – they’ve really made lifelong friends! I guess when you spend so much time together, you naturally bond. I heard from McLaughlin and Matarazzo that they used to playfully roughhouse on set, even smacking each other before filming! They actually had to ask them to stop because their faces were getting red from it, which is just so funny and shows how comfortable they were with each other.
Stunts Didn’t Always Go According to Plan
Stranger Things is known for its exciting action and visual effects, especially when showing the show’s alternate dimensions. Many of these effects are done practically – meaning they’re created on set rather than with computers. A great example is when Eleven crushes a Coke can: a hidden tube was used to remove the air, making it look like she used her powers. Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, said it was the most impressive effect she’d ever witnessed.
A memorable moment from the first season was Eleven’s car-flipping scene, though it didn’t happen exactly as expected. The car didn’t actually fly; instead, it slid along the ground and collided with a mailbox, a camera, and another vehicle used as a prop.
The special effects were often incredibly convincing, even frightening the actors. For example, in Chapter Eight, when a Demogorgon burst into a classroom after Dustin placed Eleven on a table, Millie Bobby Brown was so startled she attempted to run off set.
Matarazzo described how they used a hidden speaker to play a terrifying sound – he thought it was the velociraptor screech from the movie *Jurassic Park* – and it was very effective. He said Millie was so frightened by the sound that she jumped down from the table and rushed to the door.
