On the fourth day of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, Cassie Ventura was called back to the witness stand for a harsh cross-examination by defense attorney Anna Estevao. The attorney inquired why Ventura continued to associate with Diddy despite experiencing physical and sexual mistreatment throughout their 11-year bond.
Later on, Estevao requested Ventura to publicly read out a string of sexually suggestive messages she had sent to Diddy in the presence of both the jury and the courtroom. The defense’s tactic was to depict the rapper as a participant in unconventional sexual activities (or “swinger”) with peculiar sexual desires, rather than a criminal offender.
In one of her messages, the multi-talented artist referred to herself as extremely fortunate for being in a relationship with Diddy.
In a different message, she requests regular conversations with the hip-hop tycoon, expressing her disappointment that he seems to avoid her, despite having spare moments to engage in conversation. The text stated: “I haven’t had any interaction with you WHATSOEVER, I believe it’s possible for you to give me a few minutes of your time each day, yet you don’t seem to make an effort.
In order to establish that Cassie willingly engaged in the so-called “freak-offs“, Defense Attorney Estevao decided to present a text message to the court. The content of the message, sent by Cassie, was: “I’m always up for it, laughing out loud.
The situation became more intense as the lawyer presented an explicit text message from Cassie dated 2009, which stated, “I eagerly anticipate gazing upon a large black phallus.
In a more relaxed phrasing, during court proceedings where she’s expecting her third child with Alex Fine (eight months along), Cassie felt uneasy about the line of questioning and requested a moment’s pause from the judge. At that very instant, she could be seen gently holding her belly with both hands.
After the recess, the attorney presented additional messages to Cassie and the jury that seemed to indicate she had faith in the music executive. The message said, “I feel like I need to trust you for more than just our sexual relationship. Do you understand what I’m saying? So I can be more comfortable with the things we do intimately, this assertive/sexual aspect of me,” it read.
When questioned about whether her lawsuit affected Diddy’s professional path, Cassie acknowledged this and explained that she could comprehend the reasoning behind it.
On a Tuesday, Cassie provided a comprehensive and heartfelt account of the mistreatment she experienced throughout her ten-year relationship with Combs, spanning from 2007 to 2018.
In the course of her testimony, Ventura portrayed Combs as both physically violent and emotionally unstable. She recounted instances where he would physically harm her for making expressions displeasing to him or talking back, and vividly described a chilling transformation: “His eyes turn pitch-black. The man I was in love with is no longer recognizable.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution introduced fresh pieces of evidence such as CCTV recordings and hitherto undisclosed images from a 2016 altercation at a hotel, which depicted Combs engaging in a physical altercation with Ventura.
