In just a few days, Captain America: Brave New World will premiere, and Anthony Mackie will be wielding the Captain America shield. Excitement among fans is running high as they await the return of Sam Wilson, but the creators have dropped a significant plot twist.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment when I hear that the two beloved figures from our cherished franchise – Rosa Salazar and Logan Kim – won’t be gracing our screens as initially anticipated in their MCU debut. It’s a bittersweet moment indeed.
The creators explained that they decided to remove those two significant characters because the original plan was for Salazar to portray the villain in the film. Unfortunately, the movie’s intended tone didn’t mesh well with the script or the director’s creative vision.
In the meantime, Wilson takes over as Steve Rogers and faces off against the Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford.
Speaking about the spoilers, director Julius Onah revealed to a media portal:
In simpler terms, when you’re adapting a group of characters such as the Serpent Society from comic books, where they are human-snake hybrids with snake-related abilities, you’re constantly refining and deciding on the most suitable version for a film like this.
The filmmaker added, “I love Seth; Seth’s incredible.”
The director went on to explain, “However, since our project was developing, we discovered we had an extra photography phase – a preliminary one that we started during the initial stages of production.
Regarding the movie, Mackie steps into the role previously held by Chris Evans, battling the malevolence of Ford, who is portrayed as President Ross in this production.
Later on in their discussion, Onah commented, “We were pondering over someone who could add the right weighty presence suitable for our tone. When we learned Giancarlo was open to the role, it seemed like an obvious choice.
In addition to Mackie and Ford, I’m thrilled to share that this upcoming film will feature an exceptional ensemble cast including Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, and Carl Lumbly. Notably, we’ll also see Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson grace our screens in this production as well.
Captain America: Brave New World will be available to watch in theaters on February 14.
