‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Soars Past $200M Worldwide, Still Reigns at the Box Office, Despite a Minor Drop

In its second week, Marvel Studios’ hit movie, ‘Captain America: A New World Order,’ continues to dominate box offices. Predicted to rake in over $30 million, this superhero flick is still a favorite on high-end screens such as IMAX. Although it saw a slight decrease from its opening weekend, the film remains the preferred choice for moviegoers.

In a fresh take on the role of Captain America, Anthony Mackie spearheaded the film that enjoyed a powerful debut, accumulating $100 million during its four-day opening weekend. Despite receiving a B- rating from CinemaScore, which historically can indicate a potential sharp drop in box office revenue, this movie is outperforming some recent Marvel productions.

In the case of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, there was a significant decrease of about 70% in its box office earnings during its second weekend. On the other hand, both fans and industry experts are looking forward to seeing if Brave New World will be able to perform better and hold onto more of its audience.

By February 18, 2025, the film “Captain America: Brave New World” had raked in a total of $204.6 million globally. In the U.S. and Canada, it grossed $106.3 million, while it earned $98.3 million in other countries. Despite this, the movie has yet to cover its costs, which amount to $425 million, encompassing its production budget of $180 million and marketing expenses.

Currently, the horror movie titled “The Monkey,” penned by Stephen King and helmed by Oz Perkins, is causing a stir as well. Featuring Theo James and Tatiana Maslany, this chilling tale of suspense is projected to earn approximately $17 million in over 3,200 theaters.

The movie has attracted significant interest, as its trailer garnered 109 million views – quite a remarkable achievement for an independently produced horror flick. Innovative promotional tactics such as a church debut and intriguing monkey figurines displayed in cinemas have fueled anticipation.

I’m currently checking out other movies showing at the cinemas, one of them being “The Unbreakable Boy,” a faith-based drama from Lionsgate. This film features Zachary Levi and Meghann Fahy and tells an inspiring true story about a young boy with autism and brittle bone disease. With a limited release in approximately 1,700 theaters, it’s predicted to draw a smaller but consistent crowd.

From a passionate cinema enthusiast’s perspective, it’s clear that our local box offices are thriving, amassing an impressive $896 million as we navigate through 2025. With an array of blockbusters set to hit the silver screen in the coming months, I can’t help but feel optimistic about the cinematic offerings ahead. Whether you’re a fan of heart-pounding superhero adventures or chilling horror tales that keep you awake at night, there’s a perfect fit for every movie lover on the big screen!
