Captain America: Brave New World Finally Hits $400M, But Is It Enough?

The Marvel Studios production titled “Captain America: A Bold New Era” has now amassed a global box office revenue of $400 million, earning approximately $4.1 million in the US during the recent weekend. Despite this, it remains close to the lower end of earnings for movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) box office rankings.

After multiple revisions and additional filming, estimates suggest that the budget for “Captain America: Brave New World” could exceed $250 million, indicating that the movie may have underperformed significantly. Although the reported break-even point was $425 million, it’s probable that the actual figure required to cover costs is much higher.

What is the Captain America: Brave New World box office?

At present, the domestic box office stands at approximately $192 million. Meanwhile, our international counterpart has reached around $208.7 million. In total, we’ve amassed a global box office revenue of roughly $400.8 million.

Grosses

  • Domestic (47.9%): $192,117,391
  • International (52.1%): $208,700,000
  • Worldwide: $400,817,391

Brave New World lags in MCU Rankings

For weekend number six, Quantumania’s earnings of $4.1 million aren’t all that terrible, considering Disney’s Snow White has been struggling too, and Captain America: Brave New World seems to be the best choice for moviegoers looking for something enjoyable at the cinema currently.

As for Captain America: Brave New World, it’s important to note that it falls close to the lower end of the MCU box office earnings (as you can see in the provided list). Accounting for inflation, it currently ranks as the fourth-poorest performing Marvel Cinematic Universe film, with only Black Widow, Eternals, and The Marvels below it. Without considering inflation, it lands at position 28 out of a total of 33 MCU movies.

Globally, when considering inflation, “Brave New World” ranks as the fourth-lowest earning Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, alongside “Black Widow,” “The Incredible Hulk,” and “The Marvels.” Without adjusting for inflation, it falls to fifth place. Notably, “Captain America: Brave New World” is projected to surpass the earnings of “Eternals” ($401.7M) by this week.

What’s next

In the exciting world of Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m thrilled to share that I, Anthony Mackie, am anticipated to carry on my role as Captain America in the upcoming movie, “Avengers: Doomsday.” There are whispers about Chris Evans returning, but it’s not certain if he’ll be back as Captain America or a new character. Hayley Atwell’s return is also being discussed, which could potentially mean that Evans and Atwell might reappear as their characters from the past, similar to what we saw in “Avengers: Endgame.” Robert Downey Jr. is confirmed to return, but this time as Doctor Doom. The film, “Avengers: Doomsday,” is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, and it seems like the Russos have hinted that this film could mark a fresh start for the MCU.
