Captain America: Brave New World Director Reflects on How He Convinced Liv Tyler for Cameo in MCU: ‘You Dream…’

Director Julius Onah revealed the unexpected appearance of Liv Tyler in the latest Marvel production, Captain America: Brave New World. In 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, she portrayed Dr. Betty Ross, and this time, she was brought back to share her memorable role with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford.

During an interview with Collider, Onah shared that he had to persuade the actress quite extensively before she agreed to portray her character, who first appeared on the big screen around twenty years ago.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Before rejoining the Marvel Universe, Tyler had chosen to pause her acting career for a while to attend to personal matters. Yet, when the director reached out, I couldn’t help but feel that she was eager and fully prepared to make her comeback on the big screen.

Through our conversation via Zoom, it became clear that Liv was open to returning for the film. It’s something you envision and plan, but ultimately, you need to engage in a real conversation with the individual.

Additionally, he mentioned that he recently held a Zoom meeting for an open and sincere discussion with her, just like with every other actor considering joining the project. During our conversation, we discussed the emotional and thematic objectives of the movie, why I believed it would be valuable to their time and abilities. Thankfully, she showed interest in the project.

During the movie’s closing scenes, viewers catch a peek of the actress as she visits her father, President Ross, who now resembles the Red Hulk and has wrecked the White House, in his prison cell.

Regarding the film, Mackie reprised his role as Sam Wilson, taking over as Captain America and wielding the shield. The movie has been doing well in cinemas.
