‘Can’t Do It Anymore’: SEAL Team Star David Boreanaz Set To Leave Drama After 7th Season To Help His Body Rest

As a dedicated follower of David Boreanaz‘s career and a longtime fan of his work, I must admit that his decision to take a break from the physically demanding role of Jason Hayes on SEAL Team has left me with a mix of emotions. On one hand, it’s heartening to see an actor who is so committed to authenticity and giving justice to the lives of elite soldiers, but on the other, I can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment that we won’t be seeing more of his gripping performances as Hayes.

David Boreanaz, who’s deeply committed to depicting the authentic experiences of Navy SEALs, has chosen to step back from the strenuous physical requirements of his Paramount+ series. The actor will part ways with the military drama after the seventh and concluding season of SEAL Team, which is scheduled to debut its first two episodes on Sunday, August 11.

55-year-old Boreanaz admits that his body is feeling the strain due to the intense physical requirements, even though he takes good care of himself. “I can’t do it like I used to anymore… Despite taking care of myself, there comes a time when your body doesn’t move as it once did,” he frankly admitted in a recent interview with People before the SEAL Team Season 7 premiere.

He strongly highlighted their dedication to accurately depict the lives of high-ranking military personnel, mentioning that there was no room for compromises during the filming of action sequences, as they had to go through rigorous training to pull it off.

The dad of two shared an arduous tale, mentioning that one time he had to bear a 250-pound stuntman on his back, only to twist his ankle upon tripping over a stone. “My ankle swelled up, but I had to keep moving. I learned from the SEALs how to endure pain,” the actor from Bones said, continuing. He explained that SEALs, when injured severely, would often crack jokes as a means of dealing with adversity.

Additionally, Boreanaz disclosed that over the last four months, he has had four MRI scans as a result of various injuries to his knees, hips, and shoulders sustained while performing his physically challenging role.

Despite being primarily recognized for his role as Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the actor has also earned respect from actual Navy SEAL members due to his authentic portrayal of military life. Boreanaz is deeply appreciative knowing that his acting has struck a chord with those serving in the profession.

With his tenure on SEAL Team, a series that first aired in 2017, drawing to a close, the actor is eagerly anticipating some downtime. However, he confessed that leisure isn’t exactly his strong suit, as he admitted, “Vacations are great until around the second day, and then I start tapping my feet, thinking about what’s next.” Reports suggest that he has already linked up with new ventures.

Boreanaz, who is not only an actor but also a TV producer and director, derives satisfaction from his work, considering it his leisure activity. He often finds it challenging to still his thoughts and can’t wait to begin his upcoming ventures, showcasing his deep-rooted passion for television production that spans over many years.

In my commitment to maintaining a strong work ethic, I prioritize presence over everything else, even amidst my jam-packed schedule. At the moment, I’m looking forward to investing quality time with my two wonderful children, Jaden, aged 22, and Bella, who is 15 years old.

You can catch up on earlier episodes of SEAL Team by streaming them on Paramount+. The fresh episodes from Season 7 will be aired every week, starting from August 11.
