Buffalo Bills’ Super Bowl Curse Broken by Smoking Man Before Chiefs Showdown!

The long-held misfortune that prevented the Buffalo Bills from winning a Super Bowl has finally been broken!

On November 17, 1996, within the X-Files episode titled “Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man,” an ominous prophecy was made. In that episode, the elusive character known as the Cigarette Smoking Man (played by William B. Davis) pronounced a prediction: as long as he lived, the Buffalo Bills would never emerge victorious from a Super Bowl. Regrettably for the team’s fans, this has held true since they lost four Super Bowls in a row between 1990 and 1993, and remain without a championship to their name up until now.

The fantastic news for Bills Mafia is that Davis has broken the spell on Wednesday. On his Facebook page, the 87-year-old actor announced an end to the curse before Sunday’s game against the current Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs, starring Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Taylor Swift.

Davis declared, “Today, I’m lifting the curse I placed upon the Buffalo Bills. If they manage to defeat Kansas City, I will let them proceed and win the Super Bowl. Onwards, Bills! ……….Smoking Man,” was his statement.

Often spotted with Morley cigarettes at hand, The Smoking Man, also called C.G.B. Spender, stands out as one of the most memorable antagonists in “The X-Files” series. Played by William B. Davis, this mysterious character is a top-tier member within the Syndicate, an enigmatic group whose mission involves hiding government secrets and supposed extraterrestrial encounters.

The odds

As a die-hard fan here, I’m excited about our upcoming game, but it seems the odds are stacked against us on DraftKings. We’re labeled as underdogs with a +1.5 advantage, which means we’re expected to lose by less than 2 points or win outright. The total points scored between both teams is set at an over/under of 48.5 according to CBS Sports. Let’s hope for a high-scoring game and prove the odds wrong!

  • 83% of public bets are on the Bills at +1.5.
  • 54% of betting fans have chosen the Chiefs’ moneyline.
  • 80% of bets are on the over.
